Our Story

The Mgl Yurt is not just a themed rental — it's an authentic piece of nomadic culture, brought to you by folks who were born and raised in a ger (yurt) on the Mongolian steppe. When you stay here, you're not stepping into a stage set. You're stepping into a home.

Growing up, the ger wasn't a novelty to us. It was home: the round wooden frame, the felt walls, the fire in the center, the whole family gathered under one open skylight — a way of living shaped by nomadic families for thousands of years. That's the feeling we wanted to share with you.

When we found this nearly 8 acres of quiet Appalachian woodland, we didn't want to build another themed cabin or a generic "glamping" structure. We wanted to give our guests the real, authentic experience — the one we grew up with. So we sourced an authentic, handmade, handpainted ger directly from a small manufacturer in the Mongolian countryside, built by the same hands and methods used for generations, and set it down here for you to discover.

This isn't a recreation of nomadic life or just a place to stay. It's the unmodified, real structure that sheltered nomads on the Central Asian steppes, under endless skies, for thousands of years — and now it's waiting for you, on a quiet hilltop in West Virginia.
